Chuck Maricle, Ph.D. has continually served our country in uniform since 1978. While in college during 1978-1982, he served with the US Army Reserves completing his education. Graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree from Canisius College in Buffalo, New York in 1982, he entered active military service as a commissioned officer. Chuck is a graduate of the US Army Engineer Officer School where he learned to manage military and civilian construction projects converting every operational aspect of the US Army Corps of Engineers through several active duty commands.
Departing active duty and returning to reserve status, he served as an engineer and engineering manager for several prestegious companies such as McDonnell Douglas Corporation, General Motors Corporation and Hughes Aircraft in a worldwide capacity. In 1999 while working with Hughes Aircraft he completed his Ph.D in Computer Engineering through the General Motors Corp. Executive Education program with his dissertation published in the fall of 1999.
Joining with the US Coast Guard in 2002, today he is responsible for coordination of USCG (AUX) forces over an eight state area and 1900 personnel as Chief of Staff of the 8th Coastal Region. Chuck has been integral in the command operations responses for Hurricanes Katrina, Ike, and Rita and most recently in the Hurricane Harvey incident command post where he served as the Deputy Planning Section Chief. His awards include several commendation, achievement and humanitarian service awards plus the USCG Presidential Unit Citation for Hurricane Response.
Chuck is a charter board member of the Port of Houston Harbor Safety Committee and co-founder of the Maritime Youth Expo program, connecting our schools to maritime career opportunities. He is active in the Pasadena South Rotary and is also a member of the South Belt-Ellington Chamber of Commerce.
In 2014 Chuck was recognized by former Governor Rick Perry with a commission as an Admiral of the Texas Navy for his work in maritime education and maritime infrastructure.
Being a fully trained Incident Commander, he has decades of military and civilian engineering experience dealing with disaster management and emergencies, being a current member of both the International Association of Emergency Managers and the Society of American Military Engineers.
Military service runs deep with the Maricle family with documented service in the Revolutionary War (LT Elias and SGT Benjamin Maricle), Civil War (Peter Maricle), World War 1 (Albert and Charles H Maricle), Korea (Charles E Maricle) and the current day through Himself and his Daughter, currently as a US Navy officer aboard the USS Nimitz CVN-68
Chuck Maricle has been proudly serving the community for 30 years. He is also a Texas DPS Certified firearms instructor, Professional Scuba Diver (Divemaster) and Commercial multi-engine airplane pilot.
